Jessie McAuley is a professional athlete for Arc'teryx, location scout, and photographer. For the past twenty years, Jessie has explored the trails, high alpine summits, and old-growth forests of British Columbia's Coast Mountain Range. Whether the goal is covering terrain in fast and light style, skiing steep faces, or rock climbing, Jessie feels most at home in the wilderness.
Adventure photography has been a creative focus for Jessie since his teenage years—a way to tell stories shaped by his surroundings in the outdoors. Over the past five years, he has also worked as a subject in a range of professional film and photo productions. During this time Jessie has played a significant role in finding suitable locations on these projects. This experience, both behind and in front of the lens, has given him a strong understanding surrounding the logistics required to find and access ideal shooting locations.
At the end of the day, there is simply nothing Jessie enjoys more than exploring a lesser-known swath of wilderness hidden away in the Coast Mountains. Jessie’s end goal is to bring your ideas to life by matching your creative vision with the perfect location.
“I’ve worked with Jessie on a number of shoots over the past few years and he always seems to know the perfect spot – from big mountain terrain to tucked-away corners with great light. His experience as an athlete and as a photographer give him a unique ability to help us consistently find incredible locations.”
- Michael Overbeck, Photographer
“Jessie grew up running, skiing and climbing in the Coast Mountains and his knowledge of the range runs deep. A student of climbing history + natural history, combined with his photography skills and elite fitness allow Jessie the ability to reach and catalogue what other location scouts cannot.”
- Brian Burger, Mountain Guide
